Volunteer Project Scheme Weekends
5th, 6th & 7th December 2008 and 16th, 17th & 18th January 2009
Would you like to help protect the wild beauty of Exmoor ?
Thousands do! And we'd love you to join them
The Exmoor White Horse Inn, working with the Exmoor National Park Authority, is offering you the chance to join like-minded people working on all sorts of Exmoor Conservation Projects, whilst sharing the lovely surroundings of The Exmoor White Horse Inn. It's important, worthwhile but also hugely satisfying work from which we think you'll take a sense of real achievement.
About the weekends
We have two long weekends planned: 5th, 6th & 7th December 2008; and 16th, 17th & 18th January 2009. Each Weekend Project will run for two days (three nights) arriving on Friday and departing on Monday after breakfast.
A minimum of six people will be needed to run a weekend. We'll provide accommodation at our beautiful 16th Century Inn , the Exmoor White Horse in the heart of Exmoor National Park .
You'll enjoy Dinner, Bed & Breakfast, with a Packed Lunch for your two working days, and we'll provide transport to and from the location. You'll receive a Welcome Pack from the Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA) and an inspiring slideshow talk or a night-time walk with a National Park Ranger. At the end of your stay, you'll be presented with a certificate of participation from the ENPA.
We hope that you will return home refreshed and enthused about conservation issues in your own locality.
The costs
An all-inclusive Three Night Volunteer Break costs just £110 per person.
This is exceptional value and reflects our passion for conservation and how valuable your work will be in helping to protect Exmoor .
Availability is limited, so we recommend you apply as soon as possible to reserve your place.
What sort of tasks can I do?
Exmoor National Park Authority will provide all tools and equipment required for the tasks and will undertake the Risk Assessment. Tasks will vary depending on numbers of volunteers, time of year and of course the weather. We will try to find a task that you will enjoy depending on your interests and experience.
Tasks could include clearing invasive plants and burning them on a bonfire on North Hill; maintenance of the Rights of Way network; or working within the woods to thin saplings and build log piles for insects and creatures.
